REGISTRATION:  Through March 2, 2015

AGES:  6-12: Monday, March 2nd, 6-9 pm

AGES:  13-18 Tuesday, March 3rd, 6-9 pm

COST:  $20.00 REGISTRATION FEE (cash or check made payable to Southwood Recreation)

Spring Soccer Registration Going on Now! To register your child, please fill out this form and return to Galen Treble at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office by February 5th. Registration Fee: $30. All games will be played at Barnet Park on Sundays between 1:30pm and 4:30pm. For more information call Galen at 939-3345.


Freedom Classic Player Experience featuring the Naval Academy & Air Force Academy Baseball Teams. Experience instruction and patriotic pride with athletes from our most prestigious military academies in this 1-hour baseball clinic.

When: Saturday, February 28th at 10am (Check-in at 9:15am)

Where: Grainger Stadium- Kinston, NC

Ages: 7-14 year olds (8th grade or below)

Included: Breakfast, 1-hour clinic, t-shirt and admission ticket to the Freedom Classic Series

Registration Deadline: Friday, February 20th

Cost:$35 ($40 after registration deadline)

Tennis Anyone?

Parks and Recreation will be fielding a Boys Middle School Tennis Team for Spring 2015. Practice will be held at Fairfield Center beginning in mid/late February. The team is open to boys 6-8th grade in any school district and all skill levels are welcome (beginners-advanced). For more information or to register, please call Scott Alston at 361-5086.

Kinston/Lenoir CountyParks & Recreation Department

The Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation Department operates 11 parks providing organized programs for adults and children, such as: arts and crafts, dance classes, golf, tennis, summer day camps, baseball, softball, volleyball, dodgeball, basketball, football, soccer, kickball and swimming. Two public outdoor pools are available, one at Emma Webb Park and one at Holloway Recreation Center.  The Woodmen Community Center has a state of the art indoor/outdoor pool (heated bubble in the winter) that is included with a Woodmen Community Center membership.  Adult activities are scheduled thoughout the year including golf, tennis, basketball, softball, bridge, aerobics, dodgeball, line dancing and senior outings. A Senior Olympics program is also active in the Spring and Fall. Call us and get involved in the fun!
